G'DAY MATE !!

Lately the hype is taking a gap year and one of the top destinations for this gap year is Australia. Nearly everybody has somebody they know in Australia, just ask around you!!

Why go there? Australia or Oz as it is known by the english speaking world, has got lots to offer!! Not only do you get as far away as possible from everything you have ever known but you discover this friendly, barbeque loving surfer nation!! 

But where to start when you've got nearly 8 000 000 square kilometers waiting for you. From the outback to tropical forests passing through big cities, this huge island is going to surprise you...

New Years in Sydney

Sydney isn't the capital of Australia but it sure feels like it... This huge cosmopolitan city is right by the beach. Some of the most famous beaches in Australia are here : Bondi Beach or Cogee Beach. Meet business men on their lunch break quickly catching a wave!! Sydney is also famous for the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House : everybody has seen that famous picture of the new year fireworks over the bridge! 

Uluru or Ayers Rock

But what about the outback? You dont have to go far inland to experience the outback. Oz is so big and with only about 20 million inhabitants, you are quickly alone. But what an incredible feeling, driving out in the middle of nowhere and not seeing a soul for hours. A part from the odd kangaroos jumping out in front you!! Dont miss out on Uluru or also known as Ayers Rock, this huge monolith, the best time to see it is at sunset or sunrise when the rock changes colours!

And do you want to go scuba diving in the most famous Coral Reef? Well that's in Australia of course. You will be able to see all the nemos you want here!! So many breathtaking colours... And while you are in the area, you've got to see Fraser Island!! Tours on this island are organised by 4x4 ; this is mandatory as there are no roads, this is a gigantic sand island and a world heritage site. You wont be able to swim in the ocean  though as there are man-eating sharks... but you will find beautiful lakes to swim in.

I could go on and on about the land down under, but just make sure you take enough time out to experience all this country has to offer!!
